Janis Carlton and her daughter Anah of Yakima, Washington, visited Austin in February 2015 to look around in preparation for moving here. She found Austin Stone’s “For the City” Network of volunteer opportunities, searched through it and “my eyes and heart directed me to Chicon.”

“The very first day we showed up to serve, the overwhelming light and love of Christ flowed through each woman that works/serves here,” she recalled. “What a blessing to Austin is CPRC, not only for the tender loving care they give each and every woman that passes through their doors, but that they exude the hands and feet and heart of “Many lives are changed for the good, and they definitely changed my life, too! I have a heart for service, a heart for women, and a love of Jesus, so it has been so rewarding to help in such a small way, for such a big cause.

Now back in Washington state, Janis and Anah are eagerly awaiting their return to Austin. “It was bittersweet to say a temporary goodbye to CPRC!” she said, then offered this prayer: “Thank you, Jesus, for all you do for me and for allowing us to serve with such amazing women of God. May God continue to bless and lift up all who work and serve here.”
